69 U-Joint Fit Problem

Went to put in a new joint, Spicer 1350, and the half shaft end went fine, but the spindle flange end yoke is too long. Any ideas, ? Thanks.

Hi Chris
The Spicer cross is larger than the stock joints. You need to radius the yoke and flanges to allow the cross to fit.

Thanks Gary. You’re a wealth of knowledge for this hobby. I’m ok with radiusing the yoke, but really don’t want to touch the flange, being an original part and all. Maybe I’ll just re-grease the original and reuse it. It’s only got 20k miles on it.

For reference, here’s a comparison of the original versus the new Spicer. And I only had to grind the spider, not the flange thankfully.
