Default Mystery Connector

I’m in the middle or reinstalling my AC compressor on my ‘72 and I just found this black wire with a partially melted rubber boot/connector tucked into the passenger side fender. As far as I know, it wasn’t connected when I pulled the engine or it would be labeled. Anyone recognize it. It’s coming from the compressor harness.

Thanks in advance as you guys always seem to have the answers.

Perhaps superheat switch?
That’s my guess based on the shape of the connector and you said it’s coming from the AC harness

Does the round connector go to your blower motor? And the other one go behind the clutch on the compressor?

The flat connector with the green and black wires goes to the AC compressor clutch. I’m just trying to identify the round black single wire connector in the first picture.

Thanks. It wasn’t connected to anything and, from the looks of it, it hasn’t been connected in quite a while. I’ll do some Googling.

When I replaced the compressor during a/c rebuild I left the superheat out so mines not connected either. A/C works fine without it.
