I just installed a aftermarket radio in my 81 for around $10 I bought a harness set that you splice the Harness to the new radio and you can then plug into the factory car harness if you have crazy speakers and amps you can run those wires separately but all the radios power needs are covered.

Gray is usually dash lights wiring in Chevy harnesses. Also, for early-mid year C3's, the speaker connections are 1) signal and 2) chassis ground. Newer aftermarket radios do not have grounded speaker leads. Both leads come from the head unit for each speaker.
