I am building a SB 350 +.030 for autocrossing and was wondering if anyone had any two cents to put in about my combo. I have the edelbrock performer RPM heads (70cc), .125 domed pistons (3.5cc), edelbrock performer RPM intake, I bought the sanderson headers from Emerson on the forum, and am trying to decide on the cam to use. Oh yea the car is a 4 speed not sure on the gear (3.08 I think, but am planning on installing a 3.55). I orginally planned on the matching performer RPM cam but am not happy with low end performance, now I am looking at the comp cam XE268H-10. What do you guys think.
Sounds like a good choice... you may also be able to go a bit higher as well if you want the most power you can get. If your looking for more low end power I would maybe suggest the xe-262. Thats what i have withthe stock 3.55 gears and i am very happy with it
I have the 268XE, 3.36 gears and a 4 speed also, and I really like it, it doesn't pin you in the seat until about 1,500 rpm though, so more rear gear would help that (like 3.73's). You might also want to check out the 274XE if you're going to autocross though, it has a little more mid and upper rpm power, but the 268XE is a good mix for daily driving and occasional track use. Good luck with your choice
it's true you'd lose some low end with the edelbrock, but if you're building it for autocrossing, you'd be mainly using the higher RPMs anyway right?
i personally would build a pretty high revving motor for autocrossing.
just thoughts.
