Has anyone installed a zz632 in their C3? Planning to do this and turn the original and terribly useless 305 motor w/ 17k miles into a table for the man cave. Motor table would be sold with car if my son ever wants to get rid of it (after I die, not happening otherwise).
There was a thread on this engine a while a back. I think the hardest part about it was the fact that it’s a tall deck big block, which is hard to fit in the engine bay of a C3 without modifications. Of course, you’ll need quite a bit more hood clearance too.
Perhaps some thoughts about drive train.....so clutch/auto/manual/propshaft/driveshafts/etc/etc......how will they all stand-up to the excess torque.....nice plan though!
I thought these things came with a Turbo 400, rated to 1k hp? Modifying the bay and the hood is a non-starter for me, though. I'd like something to drop in. What was the crate engine suggestion?

1980 305 Corvettes came with a turbo 350. I wouldn’t trust it with half the power that 632 can push out. Many different small block engines will drop into place of the factory one though. I would look at Blue Print Engines website and see if there’s anything you like.
Get this 632 from BlueprintEngines.com. It's much cheaper. https://blueprintengines.com/collect...508eb030&_ss=c Horsepower & Torque: 1015 Horsepower / 830 FT. LBS. Torque
$21,999.00
If you want an auto trans with an overdrive, get the 4L80E from jakesperformance.com
Just keep in mind even you if beef up the TH350/400/700r4 to handle 1000 hp/tq, you’ll grenade the differential next. And if you rebuild and beef that up, you’ll break the half shafts.
you get the idea. The whole car has to work together to put 1000hp to the ground.
Many of us here have 400-450hp without major mods to the rest of their c3.
TOOOO much engine for a C3 Corvette! Parts will be breaking so fast your credit card will start getting "warm". I am running a L88 clone and it has ~560 hp and it breaks the heavier old parts from a 1968 C3. U-joints, half shafts and other parts will start failing IF you ever get any traction. There are very few chassis that could handle 1015 hp and the torque that comes with it. I keep checking my frame as I am afraid that I might twist it hard enough to break welds under the car. Higher Hp makes for a lot more work for the owner and lots of business for the vendors!
A less radical engine might be a better choice if you want to drive the Corvette at all.
I could not imagine spending $30k to put in the wrong engine and transmission for the car. It is really hard to recuperate any of that initial cash layout and if you ever had to sell it, the car might not be worth what you spent on it.
A C3 with the correct engine will be worth more to the Corvette purists. I love opening my hood and seeing my 427 sitting there ready for business. This big engine was what the car came with and having it in there makes the car worth something down the road. It also makes for some spirited driving....
What are you going to do about all the other weak components in the rest of the drivetrain that will soon fail from all that new power? Diffy, half-shafts, etc, etc???? Putting all that power into a car that isn't capable of handling it will be a bummer sooner than you think.
At the risk of being rude but trying to be helpful. If you are asking if it will fit and so on leave the 305 in the car because you aren't up to the job. You have no clue to the fact putting the engine in the car is just the start of your problems.
I put a tall deck in a C3 drag car. It had a full tube chassis and had a lift off front end I can't imagine with a stock frame. A tall deck will take custom headers just to start.dl your homework you will likely change your mind. But good luck either way.
