Default 1979 Glovebox Dimensions?

I would appreciate someone with a 1979 measuring their glovebox. I wish to now if this amp will fit in that space. Footprint is 9 3/4" (wide), 7 3/4" deep and 2 1/2" high. Thanks!

I don't have my car here otherwise I would but I'm willing to bet that it won't fit.

I tend to agree with you. Have not seen my 1979 since October and will not see it until April. So I need the help of others for my spring projects.

I have heard of amps being installed in the compartment area behind the passenger seat. If you take out that black thin shell lining in it I believe there is even more room to mount an amp there.

Just remember to be mindful of cooling problems when putting your amp in a confined space like that.

The back center storage on the driveshaft hump works great, next to bat. & puts the wt. over the rear.

Mounted mine on the back wall of the rear storage compartment. It's somewhat out of the way.

that looks like a really heavy amp.. be carefull where you put it you might upset the balance w/ the jack and the battery close by

I have been thinking about this further. I may sell the Kenwood. Can anyone suggest a small amp (2- or 4-channel) with a footprint that will fit in the glovebox? I am looking for a small boost in the JVC output. About 50%. The HU is OK but just falls a little bit short.

Rainbow MP A IQ series,, small amps w/ decent power, multi channels and equalizers on them.
Could be hard to get in the US & Canada though.

MPA 4.280 IQ 4 channel amp, 2x40Watt RMS @ 4 Ohm, 4x70 peak.

Lengthxwidthxheight: 174x160x46 mm

Thanks Marck. But that product is not coming up for North America on an internet search.

I have been looking for the same thing for some time, a smaller amp to fit into tight spots. I went to http://www.rainbow-car-audio.com/home/ Click on distributors on the left and choose USA. There is one here in the US but I have not called them. Good luck.
