I think that my wiper switch is broken, is it possible to "bypass" the original switch with another aftermarket one for emergency? I looked in some wiring diagrams off the 77 but i dont know what relais it is and how to bypass this thing.
My Corvette got a new motor for the wipers and the switch is working just sometimes. Like 1/4 of the time
I'm from germany so spareparts are very uncommon, because of that the bypass idea. Any Idea?
Because '77 is the first year for the steering column wiper switch, the usual recommendation of checking for switch ground isn't applicable. Unfortunately I don't know about this switch (or how to bypass it) but wanted to point out to those coming after me that it's not the same as '68-'76.
I own a 77 as well. There is absolutely nothing horrible or complicated about the wiper switch or it's wiring.
The wiper switch may have been the first year used on a Corvette, but continued to be used for many years in numerous GM vehicles.
I could post up the schematic however it's already been done.
So, test your wiring. Is it actually the switch? The wiring? Or the wiper motor?

Thank you for the answer,
The Motor is brand new and sounds normal when its working,
The switch is working normal for indicating but the wiper didn't do anything if i turn it. I sprayed it with electronic cleaner and it didn't helped.
Now for the diagram, thank you for posting it but i'm not that good with wiring a can't understand it properly.
I wired couple of old bikes before but i don't know anything about relais or something.
I have seen a few problems with these wiper switches, broken pivot bracket, broken washer pump wire at ring terminal, and dirty internal rocker contacts (internal shown in the old post you responded to)...
Few questions:
When you installed the new motor did you transfer the ground lug from old motor to new?
Did you install the ground wire to that lug?
Did you install the 3 connector motor plug correctly? Lt.Blue top, Yellow middle, Black lower.
How did you get the new motor to work, you say it sounds normal when it's working???

My late 77 wipers worked intermittently. While replacing the starter, I found some loose ground connections. Cleaned everything with a wire brush, added some dielectric grease and torqued it down. Wipers now work great. Never would of thought my wipers were grounded through the starter.
