Interesting. I can't find an AR in the Lime Book or any A with B or P for that matter; additionally, the F stamp for Flint was stopped by '67 when it changed to V.
Can you read the casting date?
Can you make out any of the casting #?

Do these engines have the long stamp pad or the shorter square-ish one from the later '70s and after?

Just thought the AR was unusual so went to boat engines Suffix codes and found this information. Next would check what the casting number and date of casting is. On the rear flange of the block is where to locate them. As far as pad size I can not tell you it size the date and cast numbers will be its indicator for pad size.

Except I don't think the suffix code is "AR", it looks like it's "2AR"? The pad is stamped H FI02I2AR, so it would be Flint (F), October (10) 21st day (2I) and the that would make the suffix code "2AR", not "AR"? In the mid 60's Chevrolet was using both Rochester Q-Jets and Holleys on engines in passenger cars, and I think pads were stamped with an "R" or "H" to identify which carb the engine was built with.

The "F" definitely dates the block as pre 67, as does the long pad. To the best of my knowledge all Flint blocks had the short pad after 78, though I think the Mexican blocks used for TargetMaster and Goodwrench 350's continued to use the long pad into the 80's?

Chevrolet did use suffix codes starting with a "2", but I can't find a "2AR" suffix code either, but it could still be a marine engine, or maybe for some other application like a generator, military or industrial? There doesn't appear to be a VIN on the block, but before 68 only Corvette engines and passenger car engines over 300 HP got VIN stamps. I don't think it's a 283 because I don't think Holleys were ever installed on them. I'd have to guess that it's a 327/275 out of something, but it may not not have been from a car or a truck?

It would be interesting to know what the block casting number and date are, and also the casting numbers from the intake and the heads.

Still looking around for any information. It is in a boat, but I am not sure if it's an original boat motor. The heads are 997 heads from a 56 corvette with 2 4bbls or a 58 FI passenger car. the cast number is totally unrecognizable on the block and google does not give me any clues. All my books don't show any AR or 2AR
