Default Pitman arm

I am assembling a 72 that came with borgeson ps. The drivers side inner tie rod grease fitting is hitting the control arm. I could remove the fitting and plug the hole but I think there should be more clearance. I wonder if this is the wrong pitman arm? GM 3741383B
Thanks!

Not familiar with a borgeson set up but, I can tell you the pitman arm is the same for 63 thru 82 Corvettes.

To the OP, there's a missing tie rod sleeve clamp on the left inner tie rod.
As far as the rubbing goes, this is why I leave steering, suspension, and brakes stock.

Hi,

I don't think anything is wrong with your pitman arm itself. I think that when they installed the kit, they failed to center the pitman arm on the borg unit. Meaning that everything is clocked to far to the left. See how far the other side clears. If it is a lot then you got your issue

You need to center the box first, center of R/L travel.
Then the steering wheel.
IIRC the pitman arms are indexed.
Then the centerlink at the centerlink grease joints.
Then the tie rods should be similar length, or adjust.

And as noted there are 2 pitman arms, both numbers are in the part book pic above.

Good luck, and you should find it.

PS and MS pitman arms. The PS has a more pronounced curve to get around the hoses and ram, but is basically the same length and the left /right rotation may be the same. With a borgeson box, I have never heard anyone say it matters. Just match your PS pitman arm to your PS centerlink, etc.. There are two centerlinks as well. I would not mix & match.
