Stop lights not working
Stop light bulbs ok
Fuse ok
Brake light switch has power on both sides when pedal pressed. So it's working.
Tail lights work
Rear turn signal lights work ok.
Ground at rear lights ok.
This leads me to the harmonica connector under the steering column. With the connector separated there is power (if pedal pressed) to the thick white wire (green arrow) on the black half. Now here is the weird bit...if I join the connector, now there is no power (???) neither on the thick white wire or the corresponding thin white wire on the white section. I expected power on both sides?
Now I'm out of ideas.
It’s fixed! … it would seem that it was the brake light switch after all. The switch tested out ok in terms on continuity when it was removed and depressed but it was a different matter when a load was applied to it. Opening it up, it showed that one of the two contacts sets had broken off and the other was failing somehow when voltage applied. Thanks to all that helped me out. An odd one for sure.
