Headlight Switch
I installed a new headlight switch (zip corvette). When i connect the battery, the courtesy lights stay on regardless of the switch position. Is there some sort of delay when they turn off? Not sure what else it could be ? Its a 1979 and i made sure the position switch is off.

Check the door jamb switches they might be stuck or grounded. Also, verify the headlight switch isn’t pushed in (activates dome light). If those are good, trace the courtesy light wire for a short to ground. No delay they should turn off immediately.

77 and newer do have a delay feature. But should turn off in 30 seconds give or take with both doors closed.

Well, truthfully, at least in 77 the delay is part of the convenience group option. So, technically, not all of the car's have this option. Sorta like the underhood light.
