Wondering if there are any shops that might be able to restore this sending unit. Came out of a 69 tank and believe it is original and correct for my 69 L46 which has a repro in it now. Any referrals would be appreciated. This puppy is rough so my hopes are not high.
I never heard of anyone that does tank sending units but Frank Ballard rebuilds fuel pumps, he might know if there is anyone out there doing sending units. Worth a try.
I'm curious. Why attempt to restore rather than replace? I can see things like fuel and water pumps that are visible but a sender is invisible once installed.

An original sending unit is discernable vs repro from view at the bottom of the tank. I am somewhat of an originality purist...originality for the sake of originality...not for NCRS prizes or points. That's my approach to my project. But as we know...sometimes compromises must be made. So just checking out options before this 56 year old original part goes to the landfill...or not.

I have a 1971 sending unit that I'm not using. Don't know if it's original or not but I can post a picture since you know how to ID an original to a repop. If you want it we can work out something. It was just removed about a year ago when I installed my Sniper 2 EFI. It looks brand new compared to the one you posted. Was that thing found on the bottom of a lake?????

Super. Pls PM me a pic or post it and we can go from there. Thank you.
I haven't looked at a sending unit in years, so maybe this isn't possible...
Can you cut off the inside-tank portion and join the original exterior to the workings of a new one? Maybe careful tig welding will work to join up the tube.

That's along the lines of what i was thinking...for someone else to do. I do not have those skills/tools.
