Default Fuel Delivery mystery

Hey guys so before I tell the long story, I was wondering where/how I could get/make a 1978 pump-to-frame fuel hose (1/4" ID). I believe my previous setup was the wrong rubber so it got kinked during routing (even though I kept it very long and thought I had nice loops) and then collapsed under vacuum? Anyways I was wondering if there was a place to get a pre-molded s shape return hose.

Now onto the mystery:

So the long story: I've had some fuel delivery mysteries for a while and thought I had fixed it a while ago, but the problem came back.
It all started because fuel wasn't getting to the carb. Everything was dry; the carb jet, carb filter, carb tube, pump hoses, frame-to-pump tubes.
Initially I had opened up my fuel tank to check and clean the filter sock (it was clean). While I was in there, I replaced some easily accessible sections of hose and put everything back together.
The engine didnt start from this and everything was still dry.
Then I replaced the pump with a new one, and while I was there also replaced the rubber hoses connecting the pump to the frame. I got these straight fuel grade hoses from Carquest cut extra long (delivery was about 24", return about 18") so that I could have large loops to avoid kinks and have easier routing.
Doing all of those got the engine to fire back up. Had multiple angry starts over a few months (because I didn't drive that often) and then after finishing another project took the car out for a test drive around the neighborhood and she was very happy. Even gave a generous love tap on the accelerator to really get the RPM up on a short strip of road.
Fast forward a few more months of sitting and everything is dry again. I checked the tank, still had fuel. Even added a gallon or two to it to make sure there was something fresh getting picked up. All still dry.

What's your guys opinion on this?

In answer to your question, yes a molded specific fuel hose is available. Most if not all of the usual corvette supply venders cary them.

You can make your own molded hose with an inner support and heat gun.

Raisins,

Pre-formed, molded "S" hose.
Zip Corvette has one, lists for $17.

The delivery hose is supposed to be 3/8" and the 1/4" return hose should not need to be S shaped unless someone installed the wrong pump.

yea I thought that too. The return line isnt pressurized so it collapsing shouldnt really matter to stop fuel moving through the system. so i was thinking of just putting the old hose back on.

but then i still dont know why no fuel is being sent to the pump from the tank

You have three ports on a C3 fuel pump.

Somethings not right with your set-up. No half inch line involved here.
But we can't see a thing!

Of the thousands & thousands of parts on a C3,
the pre-molded "S" hose has to be in top two most important.

Post some pics…
it has to be from tank to pump or filter. Try blowing air into tank from fuel line.
my no fuel here. Setup should be same as yours.

Did you check the sock inside the tank?
