Default Seatbelt warning circuit/components

Hi ,

my 73 C3 has seats and seatbelts, that are not original. I would like to make the seatbelt warning functional. But there is no sensor underneath the passenger seat neither electrical contacts in the seatbelt buckles.
I could not find components in online stores like TopFlight or Zip-Corvette.
Does somebody have any partnumbers and mechanical drawings about the seat belt warning? Seatbelt warning lamp and seatbelt buzzer are prsent, but not functional due to missing components.

Thanks in advance!

Does that work? For a 78. Can’t see the system changing.

Hello FJ,

The couple of year cars before yours had a simple seat belt Warning Light. Every time the car was started a warning light came on in the upper left corner of the center gauge cluster. There was a switch to push to turn off the warning light. The seat belts had nothing to do with the warning.
Might that be something you'd be interested in?
I really don't know how involved adding that to your 73 might be. It might require a change of your center gauge bezel.
Worth a look?

Regards.....

Hi,

it's different. I do not have the pushbutton, only the warning light.
Drivers manual says, there is a link between seatbelt als lamp. See here:

My center has no pushbutton.

It's probably like my 72. I found a pax seat cushion switch on ebay and installed that on the bottom of the bottom seat cushion.
The seat belt retractors on the floor under each seat have wires from them that connect to the wire harness down there. I hooked those back up and my seat belt warning system began working.
Then I disconnected the wires from the retractors as it was very annoying. The buzzer wouldn't shut off until I got in and buckled up. Very annoying if you want to work on the car.
Here is what the seat switch looks like.

Seatbelts with the wires that turn off the buzzer are not made by any company, from my detective work. I looked around and ended up getting OEM style new seat / shoulder belts for my 73. Since there is a “seatbelt light” on the center gauge cluster, I decided to add an adjustable timer with a buzzer / light to my car. When the ignition switch is turned to “start” the light illuminates and the buzzer sounds for about 15 seconds, and then will go off, even if the seat belt is not engaged. My 88 FIERO has the same system, I guess as long as the buzzer/light goes sounds, the government was happy, even though the belts were not engaged.
