Before I spend a bunch of money on an apparently rare, original type pump, does anyone have a good solution for a 427/435 mechanical fuel pump? I prefer a mechanical pump, and I don't want to run a Rube Goldberg web of fuel lines for a regulator or odd input/output angles. I'd just like to do what the factory did.
You need a AC 40482 fuel pump.
It took me a looong time to find a correct dated one for my 69 L89.
I bought it off this forum.
When I was at the Nationals in Vegas, I bought a NOS one so they are around, but it’s not dated.
Call Americas Finest Corvettes aka corvetteusa.com
Mike the owner had a NOS for sale awhile ago.
If you don’t want to spend the money, I believe you can buy reproductions for fairly cheap. I’m running a repop currently in my L71.
Works great.

Do you have one that's inoperable? There are a couple guys who can rebuild the crimped style.
Oh no, the current pump operates. A little too well. It is a Carter like the Ebay pump shown above and it gives a nice robust 12psi at idle. And to the credit of my Tri Powers, they hold the pressure for quite a while after shutdown. My intake manifold is a lovely gold color from the caramelized gas that eventually seeps out. I'm looking for a pump that runs between 5 and 7. Thanks

If you end up needing a fuel regulator anyway, there's really no reason not to switch to an in-tank electric pump. Then you'll be halfway to an EFI installation, if the war on caramel is lost.
Thank you, this is what I wanted to know. I will report back as to whether it delivers within stated parameters. BTW, the M4552 pump is $30.17 on Amazon as opposed to the $64.99 Ebay price. Jus' sayin'.

I went with a generic NAPA replacement. It looks identical to the original except for the AC logo. The crimped pump rebuilds don’t give me the warm and fuzzies. Fuel pumps are not something I want to mess around with.

Rebuilding a crimp style fuel pump is off the table as of now so it’s not even an option.
Fred Ballard is no longer taking work as he’s sick which is a huge blow for the restoration guys.
