Good afternoon. I recently purchased a 73 and I'm trying to fix all the issues. My main issue is the A/C. It is a factory A/C car but the original compressor has been replaced. I'm trying to make sense of the wiring but its not going well. I've tried using a diagram that I found on this forum but I'm stumped. In the pictures you can see that the green/black connector goes from the compressor to the thermal limiter connector, and the thermal limiter is now gone. I'm assuming its not needed with the aftermarket compressor. On the thermal limiter connector, the middle green wire has been cut for some reason. I'm assuming its the cut green wire with the heatshrink on it, in the pic near that relay. I also have another green wire with a connector and then a grey/red connector. If anyone could steer me in the right direction, i would greatly appreciate it.
On my 73 with the original compressor, the thermal limiter fuse has to be installed for the compressor to switch on. Wiring diagram attached. Unless the previous owner rewired it, you will need one to get power to the compressor (available at NAPA - see attached pic).
