If you don't want long tubes why do you need headers?

Not cheap like you request, but these are a true direct replacement for rams horns.

1 5/8′ To 2′ Collector, 55 – 80 Corvette Ceramic Coated Ramhorn Manifold Replacement !

Compared the cost of them though you might actually come out ahead with a set of real long tubes. Flowtech 31106FLT are ones that are good for the price and fit well into C3s. You might definitely probably pick up a few ponies from it too.

I just installed a set of similar on my 70... perhaps not the same performance? but they look and fit perfect for $200, I did the shorty headers to attach to my side pipes, happy with them and the sound... easy install, came with collectors and hardware

Shorty headers don't look cool. They look like a compromise.

If you want headers, get long tube headers (under the car, or with side-pipes).

If you want to have the coolest looking car at cars and coffee, you already do (if you are the only C3). Just leave the hood closed!

Looks like the better option in this scenario. Where did you get those? Do they have a 2” outlet? A lot of replacement manifolds have 2 1/2” outlets.

purchased them on ebay, wasnt expecting much in quality but wanted a better option for factory style side pipes and didn't have manifolds... easy weld up from collectors to pipes, turned out to be better fit and quality than expected. 2.5" collectors and love the sound with the more mild Highflo pipes, longtubes with side pipes wasnt an option for me, perhaps an option based on what the OP was looking for.

I considered the block hugger style initially but too close to the engine and engine mounts... these exited very close to the factory manifolds... I just cut the exhaust flanges and welded so virtually the same line, maybe an easy option for OP if keeping original exhaust.

Have you considered polished 2.5” rams horn manifolds?
They flow about as good as shorties, but without the clearance issues or re-tightening concerns often associated with headers in general.

I agree with Jarhead 74 Vette .......
NOTE: The 64-65 downpipes will be bolt-on ONLY IF YOU HAVE A MANUAL TRANNY.
I had headers for maybe 35 years.
A few years ago I decided to go to ramhorns since I'd probably replaced 3 or 4 sets of headers in those 35 years. I was going to buy stock ramhorns but then I found these coated smoothies, 2.5" outlet, stock donut assembly, heat riser (hollow) bolted on, and since I had a MANUAL the 64-65 downpipes (with no-neckdown) bolted right on.....and everything bolted on to the stock C3 2.5" exhaust. It's been years and they still look great and don't require maintenance.
take a peek here...this thread gave me the idea and then I contributed:

If you are not going long tube....or even block hugger.....do the 2.5" C2 Rams Horn and have them Ceramic coated....use some stainless ARP bolts to hold them on....and as stated, the Corvette Central 64-65' 2.5" downtubes can't be beat...make sure the passenger side has a heat riser delete....
Great looking, cool running setup that will flow past 400hp....although down a bit from a long tube header.
Curiously....why do you not like the long tube?

think this is what i'm gonna look at.. riser and all tha other "junk" already gone.. performance is not an issue.. bone stock motor other tha intake and carb.. and gonna stay that way... gotta original '68 DZ block motor gettin' close ta complete in tha garage.... "if i live long enough"!

tha long tubes i've seen may/may noit have a ground clearence problem given tha stance of this car... it sits pretty low..

If ground clearance is what you are concerned about Doug's p/n D350 have more ground clearance than stock engine pipes.
