Default Yes, Choke heater control relay AGAIN

(1980, 350 auto)

found some older threads about this, and learned quite a bit. Now, I have a new Edelbrock carb with electric choke. I’m also running an HEI dist.
My situation is that the relay buzzes constantly when the key is on. There is no ‘ choke’ light on anywhere. ( possible there is a blown bulb somewhere, don’t know) It’s not a performance issue, per se, but really annoying, and if its not necessary, I’d like to eliminate it.
What I think I’ve read is that originally the relay would send power to heat the choke to operate, then stop when not required. Now that the choke is connected with the modern HEI, I believe that is no longer necessary. Thoughts on this?
I am going to try to run with it removed, and see what is affected, if anything. But I would really like to know from you experts, am I damaging anything? Do I need the relay now? If its buzzing, and I need to replace, where the heck do you find one?
Thanks for anything in advance!

DW

(this post is related to the 'mystery buzzer ' post, which is now solved, but not fixed.... )

Can you post the other link, for reference?

When my choke relay buzzed, it turns out I had a blown fuse. Replaced the fuse, the buzz went away.

If you delete the electric choke, make sure your choke plate is opened all the way..

The 20 amp fuse at the very top, labelled "CH"

Here's the thread:

EDIT: Images from the internet show this as "4H", which I suspect is incorrect, it will say "CH" on the car.

But I found this handy troubleshooting image.

The Car Gods are really twisted sometimes…
I searched out the choke relay fuse in the fuse block, to check if it was bad….no, not bad…just MISSING.
Put a new one in, replaced the original relay in the holder, turned the key, buzzing is GONE! (Replaced the dome light timer for no reason now, apparently..)
I did not see that the choke light went on/off, but that could be a blown bulb. Task for another day.
In rooting around the console ‘ basement’ , I. Found some other age related issues, which I can take care of. I’ll take the win though, the goal was to eliminate the buzzing.
Thanks Bikespace! And everyone in this forum. What a relief.
