Re: Best rear spring replacement for a 1980 (lobwedge)
Several threads in the archives on rear springs. I have the TRW one (rate 340) for my 1980 from Muskegon Brake. Others seem very happy with their springs from Vette Brakes (VBP). Several vendors also carry these springs. I don't know if you can go wrong.
The archives also have discussions on what spring rates and which shock absorbers are appropriate for your application.

Re: Best rear spring replacement for a 1980 (lobwedge)
17x9 Yokes... sounds expensive. Just make sure to get your suspension realigned after the new spring. If you haven't done the front, you may want to do that too, and get the whole car aligned with the new suspension. Don't want your $$$ tires to wear unevenly.
The 340 should be great. Not sure about the AC Delco shocks w/ a fiberglass spring, though.
Re: Best rear spring replacement for a 1980 (lobwedge)
Club Cards are gone!!  I can't find a listing for the Gin Mill.
Angelo's has moved to Oliver and Lincoln (the old Spears). MUCH larger place, the food is still the same - wonderful.
If you have not been back, the canal route (MLK Blvd) is completed. Construction in process on East and West Kellogg - should be complete in 20xx. The Eastborough Duck Pond just was drained. Things change and remain the same.

Re: Best rear spring replacement for a 1980 (Pacin'California)
I am running the 340lb mono spring. Nice smooth ride, but you MUST replace the rear shocks.
Either get the VB&P shocks that are valved for mono-springs, or get an adjustable shock.
STOCK SHOCKS and others valved for the steel springs WILL NOT WORK!!
You will end up with a horrible rebound problem.
With that said, if you get the right shocks, it is a great improvement over the steel springs.
