My' 69 trip odometer on works when I push the reset up and then pull it down, but only for a few miles. Is there a way to fix it and should it be in the up or down position? I'm assuming up since I think it gets pulled down to reset, but the technical manual isn't very helpful. Any help is helpful, TIA
the reset cable has a cog on the end, when pushed up it engages the mechanism so you can spin it. it should be spring loaded to return down to clear the mechanism.
the speedo/odometer unit is driven by small cogs and worm drives. they wear out, you can buy new bits to rebuild them. Its best to pull the speedo out and have a look to see what's needed before you go and buy stuff.
