I went with stainless staples. Not certain how rivets would work.
thought 'bout that but gotta test my junk.. may not have tha ***** ta pierce tha thin metal??? or i may not have tha ***** ta mash tha handle.. i'm old...............
I did mine a few years back. Had a friend with a upholstery shop who did a lot of marine upholstery. Borrowed his electric stapler and a hand full of short marine stapes. It was easy with the right tools.
always is.. don't have tha right tools (air and/or 'lectric stapler) though.. i've already spent a small fortune on tools that won't use on anything but Christine!.. yeah she's got a name that's fitting.. not a mopar but it still fits!. Christine doesn't get a lotta drivin' time anyway.....
It's actually quite common for people to use rivets to install the inner wipes. One thing I'd suggest when using rivets instead of staples is to paint the rivets black after installing them. A little black paint does a good job of camouflaging the rivets, it just gives the install a cleaner appearance.

Hello,
Some/many of the reproduction door panels use rivets rather than staples.
It's very obvious when looking through the window from the outside.
Painting them black as gb suggests helps.
Regards....
Just did this on my '79. Another tip: Place a piece of tape along the top of the door card and mark where the cutouts are where the inner panel clips over the door. That way if the rivets stick out in the back, you'll still be able to get the door card on correctly
