Q-JET..another question
i recently purchased / installed a rebuilt q-jet #7042203.. correct for the car.
i removed a #7043208 (73 / auto )
My question is about the Throttle linkage to bracket connection / location.
See pics..
the old carb bracket has 2 holes and the rebuilt bracket has 3.
is the linkage connection correct? I eyeballed it and appears pretty close to the old bracket hole?
I’ve done timing, dwell, vacuum testing adjustments and seems to be idleing / running fine but bogging a bit after warm up and under load?
Checking all possibilities.
Thanks,
Scott

...And I don't know what type or year of carb your commercial carb builder scabbed that throttle plate off of, but it's not a 1972... The 1972 throttle lever only has 2 holes in it.
These photos are at a little bit of an angle, but you can here see a real 1972 carb and throttle lever - note only 2 holes, and the cable ball installed in the lower hole (which does not have that raised ridge around it as your lever does):
The only year I know that used the 3-hole lever with the raised edges around the holes, and having a lever with the flat top edge, is late 1969 or 1969 SR carbs. The mid-1970's heavy duty truck carbs (which were 4MV carbs) also used the 1969-style 3-hole lever... The fact that your carb supplier has built you a "Frankencarb" with parts from different years pieced together would question everything about the carb, and explain why you are having some driveability issues.

switching gears to find out the correct VACUUM HOSE to CARB connections
SEE LARS PIC of a 1972 Base 350, MT….Q-Jet Carb..best view of availability ports is by looking at the base ..you can see all 3 ports labeled.
,
1 - is for the large PCV hose going to the Valve cover then onward to the charcoal canister
other 2 hoses are - One with WHITE STRIPE in tandem with the large PCV hose
and………………………..One smaller hose to the distributor
I checked out the assembly manual and it appears that WHITE STRIPE hose goes to 2 (above the air mix screw) and distributor hose goes to 3 (below the choke pull off) but am getting conflicting feedback from others.
The REAL ANSWER IS…???…
2 =
3 =
‘Thank you,
‘Scott
