Default Licence plate bezel not flush

Greetz All

My license plate bezel does not sit flush against the rear. The bezel is fully seated. See pics below. My suspicion is an inaccurate repair. I see evidence under the car of damage repair.

How would you fix this ? The gap is driving me nuts

Trust your gut. If so, that'll be very costly; or learn to live with it.
OTOH, could be poorly-made aftermarket bezel ? Perhaps at next corvette meet-rally, you might 'borrow' a bezel and compare fit?

It appears that the exhaust panel is misaligned with the body.

Hello,
Here's a few photos.
Perhaps you'll spot something.
Has the rear panel and/or filler panel had any work done on it?
Regards......

Hi Alan, do you happen to have part numbers, or a source for those acorn nuts holding on the CORVETTE letters? I've had a devil of a time trying to find these!

Please help!

Thanks,
Paul

A number of years ago my 69 had an issue where the license plate assembly did not fit correctly and finally I got under the car and found that the two flat mounting brackets (Alan 71 - 7th photo) were bent making the fiberglass to be deformed. Removed the brackets and the body went back to the correct shape. Straightened the brackets and reinstalled them and it has been fine since.

Thanks Bob! I think those are different from what I was looking for though.
What are the ones you have for?

Hello,
The acorn nuts are quite unusual.
There has been a thread about them recently.
The 'covers' that Paul offered are a bit different and were used on the underside of the front bumper and on the license plate light fixture. There's one in place in the photos I posted.
Regards....
