I am trying to help a client at my local dealer with getting a proper AC pressure switch for his 78 Silver Anniversary. I have a feeling that something has been retrofitted already. I have exhausted my local parts stores with ones that do not line up, threads are wrong or connections are wrong. Any suggestions on part numbers? I don't expect GM stuff as I understand we are dealing with a car that soon can sign up for AARP.
On my 77 my solution was to go to a fluid transfer shop and purchase a adapter. Male threads that fit the line with female threads that fit the replacement switch. And yes the wiring connectors also needed changing. All very minor.
Thanks for the replies. I was given a old GM P?N of 626246 and was told it's a "short" version. Usual suspects of eBay and Amazon don't pull anything up and what Ecklers has look like what I just returned to Autozone. I'm kind of at a disadvantage as I am FI C2 guy and those were not available with AC.
The stock switch is just a low pressure switch. Cuts power to the compressor if the refrigerant leaks out. A lot of us upgrade that switch. But sounds like your trying to keep this box stock. Using a adapter isn't a big deal, it's all hidden behind the coolant overflow bottle hoses anyway.
