Default 'Gen' Light Question

Was the 1977 C3 the first to have the 'Gen' light on the dash?
I have a 76 (early) as well and that does not have the light and I'm trying to help a guy on FB who is having problems with his 75 (also no light I guess).
However the Hayes repair book shows that all years have the light (on the circuit diagrams), which I assume is wrong.
So can someone please confirm that it was only 1977 onwards and before that there was no such warning light.
Thanks

Haynes is a generic manual covering all years. For accurate information you need the factory manual
75 and 76 had no light.
A voltmeter should be used to diagnose a charging issue.

To the best of knowledge, no C3 had a generator light. Based on my experiences, I do not buy any repair manuals from Hayes.

I suggest you go request a wiring diagram from Papawana for your year by sending your email.
He's gracious enough to promptly provide. See here:

Thanks for confirming.
I've got a 77 and just to let everyone know, if the bulb fails, then the alternator will no longer work as the exciter voltage will be 0V. So get the bulb changed asap. Also it's a real pain in the back side to get to. Take out the passenger side dash, loosen the gauge array and fiddle about in the top right corner hoping you don't drop the damn thing.
