While removing the old rear shocks on my 69 I found that the cupped retainer washers at the lower end are missing. I see that replacements are available from several Corvette suppliers, but I’d like to avoid high shipping charges for low cost items (common issue with most suppliers). I’ve played around fabricating substitutes with somewhat thick washers using my hydraulic press. They look much like photos on supplier websites, but I wonder how critical is the shape or other factors. Any tips will be appreciated.
If anyone has a couple of these retainers they want to get out of the way, I’ll be happy to take them off your hands.
And let's not forget Tariffs...
If made out of the USA some merchants show you what that is, some don't...
I recently made a purchase of 100 Brass Terminals at .35 cents each...Made In Mexico...
0.071 cents was added to each terminal for a total of $7.10
Then add $8.49 for Shipping...
Shipping charges I feel was fair...
Hello,
I think the purpose of the washer is to keep the bushing from completely flattening out by speading as time goes by.
Even on bushings that have lots of miles on them the 'cup' has kept part of the bushing at it's original diameter and also centered on the bolt.
$$ ? Yes!!!!
Regards.....
