Default Hey,Looking for any input.

I replaced the door glass on my '69 coupe and am in the process of installing the interior door panel and inner handle. Please advise me on any TRICKS. .I am thinking that if i hold the door linkage in the open position and get the panel close i can sneak the handle through the panel.Any and all input is appreciated.THANKS

I do what you are attempting to do. I hold the door panel in one hand and then open the inner door handle to clear the panel as it is put into place. There is no easy way to do it shy of using another person to help hold the parts.

I have a 1968 and the door panels have something that appears to be plastic Velcro. I had the toughest time getting them to work properly so I heated one up with a hot air gun and it meshed much easier than when cold. This way they stay tight on the door frame.

Enjoying your nice winter weather up there? I would imagine that your Corvette doesn't get out as often as you would like due to inclement weather. I lived in Syracuse and we had two seasons up there, Winter and the 4th of July.....

Extra hands is the easy answer so one person can fit the door panel while the other ensures it clears the body parts. You don't want to hurt those door panels as they are expensive.

Best regards,
Chris

My method is to use a flat blade screw driver with a LARGE BLADE to hold open the pot metal attachment point. Next I take the door opener trim piece and gently insert it onto the pot metal attachment point while removing the screwdriver. The screwdriver must be large and be able to hold the pot metal attachment point OPEN, while the door opener is inserted.

Hello,
On a 71 loosely install the door panel and use a VERY small screw-driver to pivot the SHORT lever so the long lever can then be SLID into place so the screw can be STARTED and then tightened.
Not easy!
Regards.....

On the upper right of the mechanism you can see the lever with the 2 tracks on it which must be pivoted so the chrome lever/handle can be slid into place.
Then the screw can be tightened.

On my 69 I install the door panel.
Use a wide blade screwdriver to pry the handle attachment to the open position.
Insert a second screwdriver between handle attachment and main body.
Remove 1st screwdriver.
Slide handle on and remove second screwdriver.
