Default A/C controls dysfunction.

I recently updated my c3 engine and installed a new ac compressor. Now that its charged, when i slide the controller **** to ‘Max’ it turns the compressor off. When slide back to the off position, it turns on. I switched the wires around on the compressor unit but it made no change. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm going to throw out a wild guess that your car is 78 and up.
77 up electric switch under the console is held together with a plastic rivet. Just like the vacuum switch.
Anyway. My plastic rivet broke. My controller also did strange things. You might wish to pull that control assembly out and inspect.
