A couple of weeks ago, I paid the guy and got into my first Corvette to drive home.
I adjusted the side mirrors and reached to adjust the rear-view mirror and it came off in my hand.
No big deal, I have glued several onto windshields in the past.
BUT--my wife's 2017 Escalade's stock rear-view mirror is not really a mirror but a screen shaped like a mirror connected to a rear camera.
It does no tricks. It just displays a wide=angle view of what is behind you. It has a separate back up camera that displays on the radio and navigation screen.
MY THOUGHT:
surely someone makes an aftermarket version of this combination of rear camera and display on the rear-view mirror.
A quick internet search found several items but were much more complex than what I am wanting. They had several views and options for recording among other things.
Do any of you have any leads on such a device?
I anticipated a learning curve with seeing out of a Corvette while driving.
I had a 2001 Avalanche that was a trick to see out of until you got used to it.
I think a basic single camera that displays onto a rear-view mirror would be an asset.
I bought a used car a few years back. It came with aftermarket stereo installed. That unit is a relatively cheap piece made by BOSS. It has a wide angle remote camera and its display screen slides up & out of unit. It actually works rather well.
i thought of this but it appears that you are getting front 4k and rear 2k and they all record. you will have to run wire to power and rear..or plug in cig lighter dangling cords.. some decent videos in the reviews too.

I have re glued the glass mounted windshield mirrors on two of my cars. The sect is to buy the correct GLUE and first remove the mirror from the mounting block. Never had any of the mirrors loosen up or fall off. I always let the special glue dry for a day or two.
I too have reglued a few mirrors over the years using the kit purchased in a auto parts store. Never had a problem. Never filled in anything with anything else. Make sure the glass is super clean. The button is super clean. Follow the instructions on the package.
