I’m installing shorty headers on my C3 and realized the alt bracket mounts to the front of the exhaust manifold. Im not sure which alt relocation bracket is correct. It does have taller valve covers than the oe ones were. I found one of eBay and I think it’s right. Any thoughts? Or which is the correct bracket set up. Thanks all!
I just bought a used 1972 bracket on flea-bay for my 1971. Bolts to the head and eliminates the exhaust manifold mounting. You should have the bolt holes on the front of your head if it's stock. My ZZ4 heads have those bolt hole. Just make sure yours's does if you go this route. Worked perfectly but I did have to get another belt length. I was running a Mr. Gasket bracket for a long time but decided to get rid of it.

Thanks to everyone for their help. Got them installed. If anyone is think of using that alternator relocation kit, I got it from Summit. Every thing fit perfect. I had the exhaust redone so now it sits under the side covers as it should. Very happy with that project.
Yup ... '71 sbc come OE with a really crappy designed STAMPED alt bracket that also relies on driver side exhaust manifold having a cast-in & tapped alt mounting hole; That whole affair is unstable garbage. Following year has a very sturdy casting; base are cast iron, hipo motors have cast alum. Looks just like the one in p#3 summit ad. I really like 1971 C3 but that stamped sbc alt bracket's a turd.
