Default T-TOP SEALS!!! Help!!

Here I go again,

Jumping into replacing the T top seals has turned out to be quite a venture, anybody else that has done this could you please let me know, do you need to stretch these seals as much as I am? I’m finding out this seal is as tight as a rubber band. I’m located in Jensen Beach Florida with the temperatures rather warm…. In conditions like this stretching Rubber is not that big of a deal. The problem is this thing seems to be like a rubber band on the corners when I try to pull it to fit the studs around the rounded edges. This thing pulls so tight that one end pulls straight up in the air..as you can see in the pics I’ve included. I don’t know if this is the correct seal or not? It does have the correct number of studs…I purchased the seals 70 through 77.. bought the seals from Top Flight Automotive…

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.,

Powe.

Hello,
I found that the seal is kinda like a 'rubberband ', too.
I installed the side at the window first and then installed / glued the other 3 sides one at a time..... allowing the glue to dry each time.
I used tape to help hold each side in place as the glue on that side dried.
Regards....

I like 3M weatherstrip adhesive. Do a little at a time. You must clean off the new weatherstrip release compound off the rubber with solvent first. Put the thin coat of adhesive on both sides ( or just paint one side then press together for just a second to coat the other side) and pull apart then wait a minute or two for the solvent to gas off. It will stick immediately when you press together if you do it right. Blue tape will help hold it here and there. If you just press it together wet, you will be in for a long day so don't do that. It's called "contact cement" for a reason. Leave the outer window side unglued until you have it all back together on the car because you will need to loosen the screws to adjust the fit at the top of the glass at final assembly. Once it fits right, you can use thin foam tape on the joint or just glue it with the adhesive. Foam tape is better but you need to source the right stuff. Hope this helps.

This stuff is the bomb if you can find it. Hard to find and discontinued. Cleans off any glue or residue on anything. Mostly safe on your paint too. Nothing else will work as well.

Dub posted a number of good threads about weatherstrip. He's gone now but the threads are here if you look. Door weatherstrip has a few tricks that you will want to know when you get to that point.
