Default Dolly for Frame Off

I will be starting a frame off restoration soon and have no experience. I purchased the workbook by Noland Adams and I have a couple of questions. Will the dolly in the workbook work for a 72 coupe? Will there be any additional support required other than the dolly? How will the body physically position on the dolly?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Don't know anything about a dolly. I put my 77 body on jack stands placed under the rocker panel rails and one under the front nose to keep it from flexing.

I used the radiator. support to support the front end during restoration. If it dosen,t fit on the dolly perfectly you can just screw some pieces of wood on the dolly to pick up the radiator support. Good luck!!

I have a book and video of noland willams that has plans for a dolly that you can move around the garage I will see if I can find it.
One thing to note that you have to be very careful with a convertable there is a lot of stregnth lost without the t bar.

There are several innovative body dolly designs out there (member creations).
They are mostly spin-offs of the basic design.

Some roll over the chassis for single bay storage.
Some have adjustable height for underbody access.
I strongly suggest some support for the nose.

I will be starting to build mine soon. It will be based on Rowdy Rats dolly.
I found 10" pneumatic swivel casters on sale at Harbor Freight for $9.99 each.
The main frame is 2x lumber. The body is supported by vertical 2x angle iron,
which can be individually removed at each body mount point for repairs/access.
Currently, I am trying to figure how to make it have outrigger type wheels
for storing over the chassis.

Stan's body dolly can be seen in his CF webpage:
http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c3/rowdyrat/

Watch for a future post from me on this.

Good luck

:seeya
