No one has mentioned this but the 40s cause a head pounding resonance in the cockpit with RPMs between 1100 and 1500. I gets annoying as hell after a while. If you want loud then get them but if you like music or want to hear somebody's horn prior to impact, go with the 50s.

Re: Flowmasters or not flowmasters?? (Rick Church)
I have the 50s on mine and the sound is great. Not enough to **** the neighbors off but loud enough to let them know something is in there. I was faster by 2 tenths and 4 mph with the addition of the 50s over the stock mufflers
...
when driving normal, which i do about 30% of the time, the're fine...
but when i get on it they BLAT! and tend to "pop" from the back pressure when i back off the throttle...
dont get me wrong...i like loud too but IMO they sound like crap on my car...
any recomendations?

Maybe cause not all do.... Especially if you add and H or and x pipe to balance the system :yesnod:
I have them on my mustang with a 355 engine and they sound great. But I have long tail pipes and that make the difference.
I know everyone seems to like it loud but that upset people and laws get passed prevent modified exhaust, then we get upset.
I would go for something alot quieter. I would rather pass un-noticed down a street then make everyone look out the window looking for the source of that awful noise.
I make other noises. :)
Geez...my MAD true duals with stock-type mufflers set off alarms too. Until I put a balance pipe in that is. It's not the noise level, it's the low-frequency throb caused by unbalanced dual exhaust. :p:
I am getting ready to buy some flowmaster tommorow, yet some people say true duals sound really nice with regulay $30 turbo mufflers! Is this the case. Do turbos flow anywhere as goos as the high end ones?

I switched from Flow 40's to Dynomax SuperTurbos after 2 weeks with the Flows. Head throbbin', noise makin' mufflers!! Loud was good, but my new Superturbos sound great! Plus...now I can drive around without every screw, nut, and coin rattling in my car. SuperTurbo's were only $32 each!!!

:iagree: I have headers, 2.5" pipe, Flowmaster 40's, and an X pipe. I have a little resonance, but I wouldn't say it's "head pounding" by any means. I actually wish they were louder  :yesnod:
If your underwear has a pouch in front you'll like em, if not get a Honda. :jester
OH...now i get it...
im not a man if my car isnt loud...
hhmmm...ya...that makes scense...
I have to admit they are a bit much with the top up, was just having a little fun. ;)
