Default clutch recomendations???

when we rebuilt the engine...1200 miles ago...i think they gave us the wrong clutch...
without going into that...i am going to be replacing it (before Old Town)
i need recomendations for a brand to buy etc...

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND....
i will NOT be racing this car at the strip...
this car is driven in traffic etc...pretty much a daily driver...

i dont mind nice strong pecal pressure but i do NOT want to have to have my left leg become twice as big as my right from holding in a monster clutch...

i dont want to spend a months pay on this although i DO want a good, strong clutch...

whataya think????????

I'm happy with my hybrid clutch. Hays street/strip pressure plate and a McCleod kevlar/organic disc. Pedal pressure is the same as stock, it never chatters and is very smooth in traffic. Also holds up to my 550 ft-lbs 454. Got it through internet racers supply.

My vote is centerforce II. Very eazy on the leg, yet grabs like an old lady reaching for her bingo marker.

I just went with a stock replacement. When I got in the car and pushed on the pedal I thought they forgot to hook up the linkage.

Turns out it was just smooth as glass. I haven't had any problems since, quite as can be. Never slips, but Im running stock.

Recommend LUK for a street low power clutch SIGNGUY. Bought mine mailorder from Northern Auto Parts (www.northernautoparts.com) for little over $100. Had it installed - yea wimped out, stressed out at the time - the trans shop manager couldn't say enough good things about LUK clutches and my price. Northern also sells the Hays products but 3X the price for what? Not 3X the clutch. :nonod:
While things are apart, take a look at your clutch linkage from fork to through the firewall. All my clutch rods - including the cross bar - holes elongated and worn out. Replaced it all - for less than a Hays clutch. :yesnod:

That is the one I am using. I have abused it a lot and it still is holding up fine.
I have the Centerforce 1 That has 30% more holding power. With street tires it holds up to drag racing fine

Signguy-

You referenced the Zip clutch for $179 and the BW for $150.

I just got a Centerforce Dual Friction (which is their best I think-I know it is one notch better than the Centerforce II and 2 notches better than the Centerforce I-I think it goes 30% more, 60% more, and 90% more holding power) for $260 plus about $30 for the throw out. @$300 total and they offer free shipping. I am sure you could go for the Centerforce I or II for less and because of the free shipping, get it to home for not much more than the ZIP deal ($179 plus s/h has to be $200).

Do not base your cost on the Centerforce website. Those prices are ridiculous.

If it were I, I would get the best clutch I could get that i could afford. I would not want to be having to change it again later. You have already been down that road.

They are about the same as J_GS. I did not mention either because I was not sure if they were supporting vendors of the Forum.

There may be a cheaper provider, but not one that I could find that were definitely reliable, would ship for free, and would get it here in 2 days.

Good luck.

I had a Centerforce in my car, but now i have a Hays street/strip clutch. I like the Hays alot better. It does not lock up on me like the Centerforce use to when I was racing.
