The previous owner of my '75 coupe had replaced the original doors with doors off a 1977-1982 I believe. The mechanics are in a different place on the interior, but the doors are the same on the exterior. I was wondering if there was any way I could rig the doors currently on my car, to be able to work with door panels, and the door handles from 1975. Has anyone ever tried this? If not, where would you recomend looking for doors? Does anyone make them new? Most salvage places I have contacted have told me that the doors are hard to come by in good shape! Thank you guys! :flag
I put 78 doors on my 76. I've looked at the mechanisms for switching and noticed that if you can buy all the hardware (from ZIP, etc.) you should not have a problem putting the old door panels back on. All the mounting points are still there. My personal preference is the later C3 doors, so I decided to stick with them.
You might want to get a hold of one of the members that's parting out a whole car for the complete parts. Or contact Gary Gruhala or one of the other used suppliers around for the parts. Then open up your AIM and follow the diagrams.
