Default Re: Rear Differential date code help please. (Rick Church)

In my 68-82 Restoration Guide by Richard Prince it states:

"For 1971 and 1972 the differential production code begins with two letters to indicate the gear ratio. This is followed by a single letter denoting the assemble plant. Then come one, two or three numbers representing the day of the year the unit was assembled. After this there is a single letter that indicates the source for the Positraction unit (which was not necessarily the same company that assemble the differential). The final number in the sequence represents the assembly shift that built the unit."

Hope this helps.

According to my CAtalog of Corvette ID Numbers there should be a number like:

AXW2131

AX - 3:36
W - Warren Plant
213 - 213th day of the year
1 - first shift

In place of the AX, substitute:

AA - 3:55
AB - 3:70
AC - 4:11
AD - 4:56
AW - 3:08
AX - 3:36
LR - 3:36
AV - 2.73
