Default Door Removal

Is there any way to remove the door on a '75 without having the driver side dash pad (the one surrounding the Speedo, Tach) to access the upper hinge bolts?

Thanks,

Stephen

Well, You could take off the door panel and upper hinge cover to get to the bolts that hold the door to the hinge. This would remove the door and leave the hinge attached. I got to my top bolts during a door adjustment by removing the driverside duct work, ventball holder and kick panel.

Stephen, If you remove the hinge bolts on both the upper and lower hinges you will have a time consuming project to get the door realigned. To make the job easier I knock out the hinge pin on the lower hinge and unbolt the upper hinge from the door. You also may want to scribe or spray paint the upper bolt heads so you can easily see where the adjustment was. By removing the lower pin the lower hinge alignment will not change and when you line up the marks on the upper bolts you will make reinstalling the door a breeze. Good Luck, Craig :chevy

Won't unbolting the upper bolt heads require removal of the dash pad? Or do I just unbolt them from the door side?

Thanks!

Like the post above says - unbolt the door from the top hinge by removing the 4 bolts behind the small cover at the top of the door near the windshield post. Spray some paint on them first to locate the bolts later. Remove the pin from the lower hinge and you're done. Put a small jack under the back end of the door while you're doing this.
