I've done it, got mine from March Performance. Very easy to install, took about 1/2 hour to install. I think it was around 1200$... I like it a lot!

The March kit is beautiful but expensive. GM has a kit of GM parts for about 1/2 the cost of March but it's painted and cast parts so not so shiny. C4s are so plentiful that most Recycle yards (junk yards) will have what you need.

A guy can buy a crap-load of V-belts for that amount. I am keeping my setup unless I win the lottery.

'88 to '91 vette setup works fine, I suspect you could buy NEW compressor, and all new brackets at list price and not spend even with Breathless air pump eliminator kit.....about 1/2 the price of the March conversion....
now with a little judicious looking, like I did 7 some odd years ago. when stuff was more expensive than today...newer parts...the changeover cost me about 200 bux, total.....plus eliminator kit....which is not really necessary, just gets rid of that silly air pump doing nothing...

I'm going to be the devil's advocate here and recommend against it. My personal experience with the setup on my Suburban is as follows:

Coming back from vacation across the Nevada wasteland and the R4 A/C compressor decides to fry a front bearing. When that happens, your looking for a place to pull over, because your done driving. Know what's out in Nevada? Nothing! And cell phones don't work either.

Then, 6 months later as I'm leaving with a load of kids on a field trip, the alternator locks up. No noises or warning, just dropped a brush and again, we're walkin'!

If my waterpump didn't counter-rotate from the crank, I would have welded on a set of pulleys for an emergency v-belt. At least that way I could limp in.
With the individual v-belts on the vette, I could just cut the offending belt and press on.

Wrencher, no offense, not trying to pick a fight here, but I really think you need to listen more carefully to your accessories with the engine running....those things normally will sound really bad well before packint it in the way you say......

but then again...once I 'know' a car, I can hear something wrong well before most people....it's kinds like...something 'changes'...the rhythm of the machinery is 'differant'...and so I go into diagnostic mode when I"m driving....looking for sound sources.....this is one reason, there are many, I do not play music/noise in a car while driving...just habit...

Has anybody tried the GM kit?
http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?act...d=896&pid=8223
It comes with:
10055800 Secondary Air Injector pump bracket
1134344 Air compressor assembly, (CR4)
10129569 Idler belt pulley bracket
88894005 Water pump kit
10055880 Water pump pulley
10055879 Crankshaft pulley
10463172 Generator assembly 105 amp(reman.)
12117361 Generator connector (with lead)
10055798 Drive Belt Tensioner Assembly
10085752 Belt (fan, water pump, A/C pump, and generator)
10105212 Generator & power steering bracket
26010328 Power steering pump
14102096 Power steering pulley

It looks like everything needed to convert to a serpentine setup, but I've never heard of anybody using it before. It doesn't seem like a bad price either, especially if you are going to replace your accesories with new/rebuilt ones.

Bringing up an old thread...
Anyone use GM's kit for accessory belts? I have brand new rebuilt 454 and I need alternator, water pump, PS pump and AC compressor anyway. thinking this might be a good way to get all of those components and go with a serpentine setup as well.

thoughts??

A friend of mine drilled his big block heads for the small block serp setup and used it on his can without any problems. another friend wanted the same but didnt want to drill the heads so he made brackets to adapt from the 454 heads to the 350 serp setup.

Not sure if these kits will have the same problem. My ZZ383 I used the GM complete kit and needed to make to modifications.

This is my kit.
https://www.summitracing.com/int/par...7698/overview/

On the passenger side the wheel between the AC and the crankshaft would hit the upper control arm, so you need to reverse the mounting bracket and purchase a different (shorter) belt.

Yours being a big block may not have this issue.

True, true! I just bought v-belts here in europe for $16!
Even the seller at the parts store said that they were cheap!
