Re: Has driving a C3 changed your personality?? (twoinchgroup52)
It will help you learn to talk to people. It seems they are much more willing to talk to you when you drive it.
Most people just seem more friendly around it but there are the other types too who in my opinion are intimidated by it.
Mine has a demon with a naked lady sitting on his shoulder painted on the hood so you can imagine the comments i get. i did buy it like that but am going to change the hood someday when i get it painted. i would have hated to have to pay for that paintjob and will hang this hood in my workshop. Myself i don't feel i've changed but it does seem to affect some people in wierd ways
Re: Has driving a C3 changed your personality?? (twoinchgroup52)
Owning and driving my vette has not changed me but it does give you a different feeling when you're behind the wheel. Like most everyone else I feel a lot of pride because I know that the reason my car is fast and looks good and sounds good is because of my hard work.
Yes, expect lots of adoring looks and stares and comments but there will also be some weenies that wanna bash your car and tell you how "uncool" a 70's car is...just ignore them as you light up the tires!
Re: Has driving a C3 changed your personality?? (twoinchgroup52)
Have your people contact my people and I might give you an answer!
:D Just kidding, welcome to the forum. It did surprise me how much attention an old Vette can bring. I've even had an older fella (about 70) stop and shake my hand in a station in Kansas. He said he had one just like it when he was a kid. I've had Chevelles, Camaros (both '69's) and a well done Harley, but none of them commanded the attention that my old Vette does. It's cool but I hope it never goes to my head.

Nope!! I've always been a whack-o.
But it has changed the company I keep. I was a hot-rodder in my youth (20's) then strayed to the Harley crowd for many years. The company I now keep are "car" people. No better, no worse, just a little more subdued, and family/spouse oriented. Certainly don't drink and ride/drive anymore either.....which is good!!!!! :blueangel: :blueangel: :blueangel:

My '81 hasn't changed my personality. However, I like the attention I receive when I drive the car. Feeds the ego, ya know.
I find myself staring at other Vettes, too. The sight of these cars is a refreshing change from the numerous imports running around with stainless fart can exhausts, ground effects, and over-sized spoilers. (Why do they put rear spoilers on front wheel drive cars?)
Re: Has driving a C3 changed your personality?? (groovyjay)
No, I'm still Dr Jackyl outside the car and once I get inside the car I'm Mr.Hyde :skep:
Like Jay said: It changes while in the vette, but put me back in my full sided
sedan and I'm putt-ing down the street at the speed limit and feeling pretty
"normal".
In the vette, I become the wide-eyed bushy-haired freak that I was at 18 YO.
Look out

I go through alot more ink from signing autographs all the time and I get laid constantly, however it never happens when I'm awake.
Seriously, the thing to remember is your in a club now and other corvettes will wave at you and remember to wave back. Thats the thing I get the biggest kick out of. :yesnod:
Re: Has driving a C3 changed your personality?? (twoinchgroup52)
Hey Lakotas,
The 79 looks great.
What a job you did with that.
Thanks..but still have a LONG way to go yet.....very close to paint..inna couple or 3 weeks (Hopefully )..then we can get started on the interior!!!! :yesnod:
Re: Has driving a C3 changed your personality?? (twoinchgroup52)
No it hasn't changed me, I'm still the same ole' Shane I always was. The only difference now is that much of my thoughts are about motors and cars. Owning the 'Vette pretty much changed me into a "gearhead." It's always interesting to see people's responses when they see the 'Vette coming down the street (open headers and all).
When I first got the car (17 at the time) everybody and their brother wanted to race me. For some reason within the past year or so, pretty much nobody asks to race me anymore...I honestly don't know why :p: .
Re: Has driving a C3 changed your personality?? (twoinchgroup52)
Driving a C3 does change your personality. Personally when I started to drive my C3 around people did the stare and gawk. I even starterd to get sexual propositions because of the car I own. But then again I am in college and the sorority ladies are drawn to fast and powerful things.
You just have to remember that no matter what you drive you are still human. But it is a different story when you are driving in your C3. :auto: :D
