Alignment is done by shimming the trailing arms at the pivot points and adjusting the strut rods. There is a left and a right however and they won't fit if you get them switched. :D

Never heard of there being a left and right yoke.My heat treated ones look and fit the same as did the originals
I'd have to look through my books to try to find it for sure (maybe someone can confirm or refute it), but I thought, for assembly, they were supposed to be inserted into the diff at 90 degrees to each other (I don't know why that would matter, but I thought I read it).
I hope there's no LEFT or RIGHT, because I didn't see any on mine

I believe that alignment during assembly was only if you are trying to install the centersection with the crossmember and rear cover still in the car. If not then there is no reason to align them - they certainly will not keep that relationship after a few seconds of driving. Like pulling out of your driveway
The dealer couldn't get mine out. I dropped off the diff to get the seals replaced. It took him almost a week to just get the new seals.. Another week it sat and yesterday I asked if it was done. He said they started working on it, removed the c clip and the yoke would not slide out.. couldn't understand why.. said I would most likely need new yokes.. i trust this place with my K2500 diesel Suburban and they've been real honest with me so when he told me the new yokes would be around $230 a piece I drove over, boxed up the diff and sent it to Bairs to be rebuilt.. Bairs charges $99 for his yokes so for a couple hundred more I'm getting it totally rebuilt at Bairs.. And a couple hundred more I'm getting the 3:55 gears too..
If you get a set of them that have been in there a bit ,you will have fun getting them out . After the axles and center pin get done beating each other to death the axle ends take a bit of a beating . Pretty common occurence really .
:iagree: They are a slip fit - and the center pin usually puts a little bit
of mushroom on the inside end. They come out with a little force.
Koz: Sending the unit off sounds like a better deal for you. :yesnod:
No alignment needed for yokes.
No left/right for yokes.
... and the differnet types ARE interchangable, but may require different
Ujoints and caps/straps/bolts.
