Ebay is a good source for parts especially rare parts. It's easy to get caught up in the moment on auctions. You need to know what a part is worth and what your willing to pay before going into it. As well as researching the sellers feedback and lack of.

I'm glad Paul did what he did.. I don't buy from e-bay but I do buy online.. If there's a place that describes past buyers experiences then I read. If it's a part I can't find anywhere else and I read that this guy is expensive.. I can make the choice. If I read the part if available elsewhere cheaper and the guy is basically charging TOO MUC then I'll look elsewhere. So I say "Thanks" to Paul for voiceing his feelings and maybe helping someone else not make the same mistake..
I agree, to a point. Negative feedback on ebay is really a drastic measure. Neutral feedback would be more appropriate as it doesn't effect the seller's overall rating, and the seller really didn't do anything wrong.

I really did not wish to get into this but here goes. Because I am very ticked! There are EBay police. I have been beaten on by these folks and the seller for two days now. Lovely! For just expressing an opinion. Dispute resolution for $40.00? The EBay seller should get a life before submitting me to this nonsense. I am very peeved by this invasion of privacy by a simple bid on Ebay.

Paul,

I don't get it... Dispute what? What exactly are they doing/can do? You paid for the item, and are just expressing what you feel about the price you paid...

Wow! What a nightmare. There's still not much they can do except pester you. The seller just wants the bad feedback removed. Good luck.

I pushed back yesterday - rationally - after a couple of cold showers. I will be reimbursed $33.00US for the retraction of my negative comment. I now consider the matter resolved. Thanks for listening!

Paul I don't understand why you can't tell us what it was you purchased? I mean wouldn't it allow other members to avoid the same dismal situation you just went through?

I searched on eBay and found the auction in question... Read your feedback, and his response to your complaint makes little sense to me... You're talking about the markup, he's talking about shipping...

I have enjoyed buying and selling on Ebay for a long time and had never been burned, or even singed (sp) so in my arrogance I bought a Corvette on Ebay, did my homework on the seller, made the phone calls, had 30 pictures sent to me, it was described as "Excellent" inside and out, excellent engine, brakes, tranny, near perfect etc, etc.

The seller was in Florida and I am in Texas so it did not seem feasible at the time to go inspect it, so I jumped...sent money and had car shipped, four days later received a car that did not run well enough to get home from three blocks away, it had to be towed home. You can't imagine how many things don't work, its been here for three weeks and I work on it every day and still have a long list of items to repair before it can be Inspected and tagged. I have not given the guy a negative yet, a list of repairs and costs were sent to him and I am giving him a chance to make it right. Obviously the bidding would not have been as high if the car had been accurately described. If I had known about this board I bet someone would have looked at it for me, DOH !!

On the bright side, the cosmetics are very nice, the paint polished out great and its going to be a nice car.

I overpaid on an Ebay item compared to the manufacturer's suggested retail price. I cannot put myself in a position of being critical for my own research failings. I have explained the mis-spelling in the auction's title that led me astray. Normally searches for MSRP on branded products is pretty thorough. This one slipped by. So it was an interesting lesson; both in terms of watching your pricing and the consequences of stating an objection on EBay in the form of a negative feedback. I guess some people make a living in that medium and do not take too kindly to criticism. I thought mine was constructive. In any case, the seller and I have settled matters. Let's leave it at that. I will not be back to EBay soon.

Sorry Paul, but as an experienced buyer and seller on E-bay,,ya kinda had this one coming. I list Buy it Now with a fair price all the time to keep the auctions short. It helps buyers and sellers. You bought it at the price he asked, that was totally up to you to make that decision, NOT HIS! He sold you the item, and shipped it to you, he did not mis-represent the item, you got what you paid for, leaving negative feed-back is a very serious thing to someone who makes his living on E-Bay,, kind of like a BBB complaint but no investigation. If you were unhappy with the item or price you should have E-mailed and tried to work it out. He is only using the avenues left open to him to solve a situation you should never have put him in to begin with, so you have absolutely no right to vent about the reprecussions. You kinda started the p1ssing contest, and he wanted to end it....Bad feedback is a no no in this case, I propably would have done the same thing to keep my feed-back rating excellant!!!!

So flame away!!

Am I getting this right?? So ebay is herassing you for leaving a comment because you think you overpaid and some low down MF scumbag ripped me out of a couple hundred of bucks and they do nothing for me?? This pisses me off, I'm about to explode. Time to start mass emailing those escammerrs again. Damn, I'm so pissed I am about to take a plane to Dalls TX and beat the snot out of that guy that ripped me off.

Escam is clearly onl;y supporting the sellers since that's where they make the money.. not realizing that without buyers there's no money to be made (except for listing fees) :cuss :cuss :cuss :cuss

Smitty,
I do not consider it a p***ing contest. In any EBay auction you are asked to provide feedback. I did in the context of 80 characters: the limit. An honest expression of opinion. I am not a frequent EBay user so do not understand why a wee bit of negative feedback can generate such a mess. And I draw your attention to these words in one of the e-mails. I will have to edit.

Why Respond?

It is FREE: The SquareTrade service is a free way for you to resolve issues. There is no cost or obligation if you respond to this problem using our system.
Negative Feedback Removal: SquareTrade offers an opportunity to remove negative feedback to help buyers and sellers protect their reputations. If you do not respond to this case the other party may be able to have their feedback removed anyway.
Tell your side of the story: We currently only have the information provided by the seller. It's important that you share your point of view.
It is fast: On average, it takes 15 minutes to respond, and most disputes are resolved in under 7 days.

If I do not respond the seller can have the feedback removed anyway??

I looked at some of the sellers auctions. Usually, his opening price equals the retail price of the item. His "buy it now price" is double. :bs It's one way to make money, but I don't think it's honorable.

I bought it. Again I accept what I did: I overpaid. The product is excellent. I have no further comment in this thread.
