Default 5 Pt Harness Question?

Who here has put 5 pt seat belts in there car.
I know a popular fix is the SharkBar kit but what other options do I have. Was looking to not have a big bar going across the back of seats. Maybe I just haven't seen the shark bar right. Share your experiences with 5 pt seat belts and pics would be great. I was thinking of maybe someway to put them down the back of the seat to the base of the seat mount but not sure if they would come up to the shoulder area the way they are suppose to.

Also, After getting the conversion what do you do about the old shouldbelt stlye belts. Is there any easy way to get rid of the whole assembly or do you just leave the setup in the car with no belt.

I had 5 point harnesses but the boys voted against the crotch strap so I now have 4 points.
Across the back under the rear decking is a ledge. It was part of a cold air package with 2 lovered grills in the back deck. My grills are blocked off and the mechanism hidden by the ledge has been removed. I placed a bar across inside this ledge and bolted it in place. Through the back trim piece under the window is 3/8th stainless eyes sticking thorugh the trim and these eyes are bolted thorugh the bar hidden behind the ledge.
I then used 2 mountian climbers aluminum snaps. I don't know what they are called but they have ratings on them in kilineutons. I converted this to pounds and it is something like 28000 pounds per snap times 2 for close to a rating of 56,000 pounds, More then enough for me.
Anyway these snaps are a quick release for me if I want to tip the seat forward to get to the luggage area in back.
Anyway the installation is neat. The upper shoulder straps pass through the seat. My original 75 seats have a chrome piece on them with slots that were not machined out but clearly showed where shoulder straps could pass through. I milled the slots out and took the seat covers to the apolsters? where they modified it for allowing the belts to pass through. Looks factory stock now.
I don't have a digital camera. Sorry

That sounds like a really good idea, how'd you get the harness to go through the seat? Or what I mean to ask is do you know how I could get it through my stock seats. I do not have the holes in my seat like you said you did.

Anyone else have 5-pt seatbelt setups that they could share would be great!

Does the shark bar fit on the 1978 - 1982 cars ? I know that it works on the older ones because of the way the seatbelt anchors mount inside the C pillars.

If someone has pictures of a Shark Bar in a 1978 - 1982 I would love to see them. I want to add a brace to my car, maybe run belts. I would really like to put a head rest at the top of my seat. If I get rear ended there is nothing to support my head, and if it snaps back I will get scalped by the halo that runs behind the t-tops.

I've seen the Y type installed by drilling a hole into the floor then installing a metal plate on either side of the floor to spread the distributing area if you ever need to rely on them for safety.

As far as the crotch strap, I found that without it the shoulder straps would pull the others up high so IMO it works better with it, but it's easy enough to see if you like it or not ;)

BSeery-The Shark Bar II ('78 thru '82) is in production. A few Forum members have them installed in there Sharks. Check out my customer page to see a few.

I installed a Corbeau 4-point and used all the factory mounting locations.

Works pretty good.
