Default EFE TV ???

I have what I beleve is the early fuel evaporation temp valve (EFE TV) connected to my thermostat housing. Do I need this? I think it is a smog thing. I'v read where other forum members removed thiers and capped the lines. Is this ok?

I want to add a temp sensor to the thermostat housing for my spal fans and EFE TV is in the way.

It is OK if you do not have very cold conditions requiring a choke. The TVS (thermal vacuum switch) on the t-stat housing applies vacuum at cold start-up to the EFE actuator which in turn closes the butterfly valve in the heat riser control valve just below the passenger side exhaust manifold. This deflects hot exhaust gases through the intake manifold to allow for warm up in the area of the carb (the F-fuel in EFE). At a 120F coolant temp at the TVS, vacuum is released to the EFE and the heat riser butterfly returns to an open position. That is the default position in the absence of vacuum (e.g. no TVS) so I do not see a problem.
