Default Dyno Max Exhaust Part Numbers

Heyas Folks

I am trying to figure out exactly which part numbers I need to upgrade my
79 Vette Exhaust System with Dyno Max headers and mufflers.

I want the the Ultraflow SS Mufflers.

Prices range from ~$100 to ~$160 for what seems to be the same Muffler
but everyone uses their own part numbers so it is hard to compare apples
to apples...

I think that the muffler I need is #17264 which is a 14" muffler with 2 1/2 inch inlets and offset 2 1/4 outlet.

As far as headers go, I would like the low end torque (emission control is not an issue where I live). I was looking at their ceramic coated headers, they also have some "block huggers" which look like they would be an easy install.

I am pretty new to this kinda thing, I have read the exhaust faq ... just looking for some more perspective !

Cheers ! :hat

My $.02 worth..... I think that most folks here will tell ya that shorty or block hugger headers dont flow much better than the stock Ram Horns. Dynomax Ceramicoats in Full Length run about 230 bucks from either Jeg', Summit, or others. Those or others like them from other manufacturers, seem to be the hot ticket today. As far as mufflers go, thats pretty much personal preference. I went with Mid-Am chambered pipes. Good Luck whatever you choose......... :yesnod:

I totally agree. Just call Jeg's or Summit and they can help you. They do all have their own part numbers and I think it is so it is harder to comparison shop. I have Flowmaster 40's and I lovethem. They are kinda loud though. You should be able to use the same size inlet as the outlet. I believe mine are offset inlet and centered outlet. Hope that helps.

What kit are you using between the headers and the mufflers? Is that kit that includes the pipes?

On my 74 I used 17261 and 17262 which are 2 1/2 in and out , offset offset. and had the muffler shop bend a couple of stock looking downspouts out of stainless. The reason I used these mufflers is that they are 3/4 of an inch narrower than the stock muffler giving me about an inch clearance on each side of the muffler. These mufflers come with a bracket welded on the end that is easy to cut off. The down side of using these part numbers are they were originally designed to be a direct fit on the Mustang. These mufflers are fairly queit at idle and cruise but loud at full throttle, I'm having an X pipe install next week.
