Anyone have the spark plug in the tail pipe set up? Ever seen it in on a vette? Any danger of rear valance melt down? Any instructions on how to do it?
I don't have it but I know how to do it! They just featured it on Trucks this weekend. It looked pretty cool but I'm not sure how you could set it up on a vette, especially it you have tailpipes that are angled down.
http://www.hotrodsornorco.com I think they've got something on it
also, try trucks tv's website, i know Stacey did a show on it. It was
I saw it on Trucks this weekend as well.. It's not a hard job and there are kits you can buy to make it easier. It really is a couple of coils, one per pipe, a couple of plugs drilled in to each exhaust pipe. Not sure how far from the end of the pipe you have to be to get maximum effect. You mount the coils somewhere out of sight grounding the negative side of the coil to the frame. Find a 12 volt power supply off the ignition side of you switch, there are a couple on your fuse box. Run a wire to one side of the switch. Not sure if you want a switch that stays closed or one that is a contact and release type. Difference being is that on the one, the plug will continue to spark until you turn it off with the swich or turn off the ignition. The other will only work while you have it depressed. Once you pick your switch and run power to one side, you run the other side to the positive contact on the coil. Connect a plug wire to the coil and the plug and Bobs your Uncle. Pump the pedal a couple of times to make it rich, hit the button and presto...You got fuego.. It looked pretty cool and looks great at night...Not sure how good it is for the engine or how much heat you get from a blast. It's only used for short bursts so I don't think you have to worry about back bumper meltdown. It would sure be a great deterent for those jerks that just can't resist tailgating. If you decide to do it, let us know how it works out. I'd be careful though...any time your throwing flame around near the rear of the car Where The Gas Tank Is...Make darn sure your fuel line is solid. Gas vapours are heavier than air so they linger near the ground if you have a leak anywhere....BE CAREFUL.. Hate to see you torch yourself for the sake of a stunt...Oh yea...it'd be shame to loose your car as well.. :flag
A guy here has that on his car.....wow factor is great....he flame torched a nice patch of dry grass during one of his demo's.
I wouldn't want to be the guy accused of taking down a forrest to entertain some teen age girls.....The locals would string me up by the *****.
If I killed Smokey the Bear, I know I wouldn't be too popular with the teen age girls....for sure. :flag :seeya Cappy
if there was a kit that ran a seperate line from the pump to shoot gas into the pipes i might consider it..i dont like the idea of shooting raw gas through my cylinders.....

Re: Flame Throwers (norvalwilhelm)
What they do is place fuel injectors in the exaust tips witha sparkplug behind to light it off and they rev the engine to blow the fuel farther. Yes you do have to worry about melting your car. :D Some people mix gas, alcohol, and lighter fluid to get the flame just right. :D
and when you hit the switch it cuts the spark to your motor and raw gas flows unburned through your cylinders... :nono:
I don't think so. I understand that simply pumping the gas pedal will exercise
the accelerator pump and this is where the excess fuel comes from. The rich
mixture doesn't burn completely. You can't do this with injection or cats.
The switch is simply to trigger the coil/plug and ignite the excess fuel mixture
as it exits the pipe.
Rice ? I don't think so. This has been around since the days of hotrods.
It's kinda like blue-dots. Most people wouldn't put 'em on their vette - but
definitely not ricey.

You guys are kidding right. A flame thrower on our vets. And you guys talk about the fart can on a ricer?

What that system does is shut down the ignition system and allows fuel to pass straight through the combustion chamber into the exhaust then it ignites it.
Won't work with fuel injection or cats.
I'd have to see it on a C3 to determin if I liked it or not.
