My power windowson my '74 stopped working. I thought it was just a fuse but still nothing after relpacing it. Is there any other fuses I should check????
thanx
I assume both stopped working at the same time, have you done any electrical work recently? Are they the only thing to stop working? I'm not sure if there is a fusable link in your car that might do this but its worth a quick flip through the electrical diagrams to find out.
There's a power window circuit breaker on the driver's side firewall next to the brake booster. 30 amp I beleive, with 2 connecters (wires). That may be something to check. Most auto parts stores should have them.
If I remember correctly, some of these circuit breakers reset themselves, after the problem is removed, or they cool off. There may be another problem causing the circuit breaker to trip.
Re: Help---- power windows not working (Love My 72 and 77)
You are probably correct in that it is probably something simple. Check all connections incl. the switches. Someone even cleaned the motor to fix.
The motor is big enough to be a starter on the mini motored cars.
Yes, both windows stopped working at the same time, so I don't think it is an individual window prob. just a lack of power. I will check the circuit breaker and go from there. thanx
Terry, I went out to the garage, and I pulled the console side cover (driver's side). After probing for some time, and looking in the assembly manual, I found a junction point just below the ashtray.
I believe this is the circuit breaker, not the two pronged thingy at the fuse box, just below the flasher, marked "pwr accy." At any rate, there are three wires going into this. A pink/black, an orange/black, and a red wire. The orange wire had power. Neither of the others did. When I jumped the orange to the pink, nothing happened. When I jumped the orange to the red (which leads to the power window switches) the windows worked.
So I can only assume that either:
A.) I have a problem that is shorting the circuit breaker. But for the life of me, I don't know what this is.
or
B.) The breaker is actually bad.
I just finished putting a new stereo in, and the wiring within the console and the dash is a mess. But the window circuits appear to be "virgin." At any rate, I'll keep you informed, and let you know what happens on my end.

I had the same problem, turned out the wire for the relay had come out of the fuse block. I beleive it was a brown wire, with a whie, or clear plastic connector.
Could someone add a picture of the circuit breaker on the drivers side firewall so I can locate it.... New to the C3 world and my 72 windows both quit at the same time. Thanks

The circuit breaker is on the drivers' side near the master cylinder.
Make sure that the PINK BLACK wire is plugged into the fuse box.
I realize that the relay isn’t the breaker after looking for a replacement part. For the life of me I can’t find it. I found the horn relay but no CB. There is a 30a fuse with power that runs across to the earlier relay.

The relay you posted is for the heater.
Did a previous owner change the window circuit breaker and install an inline fuse instead?
A RED wire brings power INTO the circuit breaker and an ORANGE wire brings power out of the circuit breaker.
Is the inline fuse good?
Many time when both windows don't work it is because the window RELAY (under the console) is bad.
I am trying to get with the PO to see if that is the case with the breaker. The inline fuse is good so I will go for the relay next. They were both working and then both quit after raising them so the assumption was that the CB failed to reset but it is no-where to be found.
If you have tested the breaker and know both the motors work then I bet it's the relay under the console, mine drove me crazy for awhile till I swapped it out and both windows started working.
