Automatic or a Stick?
but for performance Auto all the way shifts perfect all the time without a burp
thats why it's prefered at the races. :yesnod: :yesnod:
Like Aaron76 already said the stick is alot of fun to drive but the automatics are faster.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Don't the newest most hi-tech racers have automatic shifting ie. finger switches on the steering wheel... UP and DOWN to control the gear they are in without pushing a stupid clutch??
If i wanted to grind gears i would have bought an 18 wheeler. Then i would have 13 of them.

Autos are far better for consistancy in bracket racing and the like. I think you will find many top gas and funny cars are still using lenco's and other specialized manual boxes. Road racing is dominated by manual transmissions.
And by dint of the fact that automatic tranmsissions slip perpetually (excpet for the 700r4s and their ilk) two identical cars one with a manual and the other with a stick, the stick will be the fastest car (top speed) the auto will most likely have the best 1/4 mile time.
So what do you want?
most consistant 1/4 mile street car (not pro funny car) - Auto
best top speed overall - stick
most fun - stick
most desirable for resale - stick (with very few excpetions)
lightest car you can get - stick
least likely to be seen driven by a grandmother - stick
:yesnod:
Short answer: they have a clutch to launch and after that all they do is pull levers, no depressing of a clutch.
