Default Exhaust paints

What have you used and what works? I plan on taking my spare tire off and painting the pipes coming out to the mufflers, to get that Lasse look.

On my previous Vette, I painted much of the rear sections with the hightest head bright silver spray paint I could find (believe it was 1500+ degrees F, from a local auto parts store). It holds pretty well assuming you remove any rust, grime, etc.

I'm putting my engine together now, and the budget doesn't allow for the Hooker chrome side exhaust I want. Needless to say, I will be keeping my old headers and painting them.

The engine is being painted with POR 15, they also have a high temp paint for headers. It comes in aluminum, grey and black.

Hope this helps, Steve.

When I had my stock manifolds on the engine I used a few different products. At first i used the rub on products like Calyx but found that they didn't last very long. When I rebuilt the engine I sandblasted the manifolds and coated them with Eastwood Hi Temp manifold paint in the natural gray color. This paint held up well for about 3 years until I changed the manifolds for headers. I'm sure it would still be going strong if I was running the stock manifolds. You put it on with a paintbrush and then let it dry. Once dry you can start the car and it cures by manifold heat. I'm going to be using it on my header to exhaust connector pipes and hope that I get the same performance as before. Check out Eastwood's site for more details.
