Default Trailing Arm removal

Thinking of sending my arms out to Bairs for rebuilds. For some reason seeing the SNOW fly again seems to take me out of that mode. Maybe in the next couple of weeks I'll get started. Any info regarding the removal of these arms will be greatly appreciated, ideas, shortcuts etc. Already purchased a can of PB Blaster! :banghead: :flag

Log on to the Van Steel website and order their VHS tape on Vette Suspensions. It is about $20 and worth many times that in knowledge of the rear end disassembly and assembly.

or call Art at 727-561-9199, he is a super help.

Spray, spray, spray. I would spray penetrating oil every night for the next week. :yesnod:

Steve if you're down in New Haven let me know. I have a couple of arms out that I rebuilt, you could take a look at. It might help you get a feel for removing them.

Well I only work on things as time allows-usually nights and weekends. Were you thinking of doing these yourself? How fast do you need them back?
IM me if you have questions.

You better get your butt moving on that. I know -I'm watching the snow fall in MA as I write this - but ...

You WILL run into problems. You WILL take longer than expected. You WILL
replace thiongs you hadn't planned to. Best to get it rolling, so your not
still fixing her in August.

IMO - it's cheap insurance to pay a pro to do the TA rebuild - at least the bearing assembly. It's not that much more to pay for the whole matched
assembly to be rebuilt. ~$3-400 each depending on brake hardware.

I rebuilt mine last fall. I'll admit it was a PITA but i really didn't think it was worth the 350 that Van Steel (or whoever) was charging. I've done harder things on the car, it just took time and patience.

Getting them out wasn't too bad. Definitely lots of penetrating oil, but mine slit out without too much effort. Replaced everything (poly bushings and stainless hardware).

It’d do it again if the option were to arise.

Oh yeah… check the run out BEFORE you install the grease. :P

WOW.. That IS the promised land!! Mine are at Bair's as we speak. I have rusty pockets where the old TAs were. Did you use POR 15 on that? What is my next move to get mine looking like that? :smash:
