the last couple of years have been slightly boring with the domination of the ferraris, but thei year is very exciting sofar with the resurgence of the mc larens and other teams.i wasnt really too upset when schumacher (rainmaster) spun out :steering:
My wife and I both agree. We've both have enjoyed watching this years racing. Usually after the first race one team pretty much would dominate, but not now.
We think Jordan should have been given the win, but rules are rules. Shame NASCAR doesn't stick to/document their rules LOL!
Is it the resurgence of mclaren or the control of scuderia ferrari ,,,,,,,,,hmmmmm I wonder ! And the rainmeister is far from washed up ,but I agree the new rules have certainly inserted a bit of suspense to the whole show .
:iagree:
It's got exciting again. All races so far this season have been more interesting than any other race that I can think of over the last 2 or 3 years. I'm a big McLaren fan (grew up in Woking, know people that work for them), but also think it's a pity that Jordan weren't given the win. I was cheering when "Shumi" spun off but Barichello(sp?), poor bloke, what does he need to do? He deserved to win on his home turf the way he was driving. Looking forward to the next race :)
:iagree:
Great stuff, and yes Jordan should have been given the win, but what about DC, he had just pitted and was off and running. His team mate gets the win and yet he still had to pit!! Sorry I know rules is rules but... :U
Anyhow UKP your right it is interesting again and hopefully will stay that way.
A final point. Despite not romping away as before, Ferrari have still not brought in their new car... I wonder why?
Re: is formula 1 fun again or what (Graemeinvette)
Agreed, DC lost out badly & he's the driver I want to see with the most points at the end of the season :)
I'm not sure that the new rules are that good. I mean, I thought safety was paramount, so why were they racing in that weather with only intermediate tyres? It showed the skill of the drivers still in it at the end, but seemed a bit dodgy to me. Or am I just getting old & sensible?
It was also unfair on MS in that he qualified low down due to the amount of wing he'd given the car, planning for a wet race the next day, but then everybody else was allowed to alter theirs prior to the race starting. I'm not a MS fan, but c'mon, that's taking the ****!
Apparently McLaren also have a new car to unleash - should be interesting.
I really think that some changes should be made to the circuits as well as the rules. Is it Hungary where the track doesn't allow for overtaking & all passing must be done by clever pit stop strategy? What's the point of that? It's like having a dragstrip with only 1 lane & both cars in it!
Your point on tyres is a good one, its bad enough racing with all that spray around but in intermediates, especially when they had all that standing water  I know McLaren still have their new car to bring in but they had always planned to bring it in around the British GP (if there is one) wheras Ferrari have had theirs running since before the start of the season. It could have something to do with their test drivers writing them off :lolg: They have done 3 so far if my count is right.
It really seems that F1 is more interesting again! I still wonder if all these happenings have something to do with the regulations or is it because of something else...
UK guys don't slam on me because of what I'm going to say now... :skep: DC had bad luck, but I'm not afraid because Kimi won... I guess I'm partially biased... :blueangel: First there was Mika Häkkinen and now there is Kimi... Too bad for DC... Hope you don't have bitter feeling for finnish people though! :seeya
Re: is formula 1 fun again or what (Graemeinvette)
F1 has taken big step up this year. Three incredible races so far with teams like Renault and Jordan going for top points. It's going to be very exiting season. Oh for some reason Räikkönen is my fav. driver (Now that Häkkinen has retired ;) ) :steering:

I have English room mate in London and he's a F1 nut, biggest Damon Hill fan ever, but now he seems to think that Räikkönen is the best guy on the track, so we get along just fine
Hey Finnshark,
Don't worry, we're not nationalistic! It's great that Kimi won & if DC doesn't win the championship I hope he does. I'm a DC fan simply because I think he's a good driver with an undeserved reputation for being timid & because he won when I went to Monza. It was great, I was surrounded by Brit MS/Ferrari fans looking miserable while I was cheering coz DC had won in a Brit car on Ferraris home ground :D It was a black day when Mika retired. The only thing that kept me watching F1 was the battles between him & MS. Besides, I can't have bad feeling towards Finnish people - a lot of my mates work for Nokia
Hey Graeme, what a great job being a Ferrari test driver... getting paid all that money to write off several millions of £'s of cars!! Hope they carry on doing it ;)
I'm with you on this one Paul, its not Nationalism with DC, despite him being a Scot, its just he is a good driver capable of taking on the best, but somehow not getting (or keeps getting) the mechanical break's. Remeber a few years ago the rumours of Ron Dennis's red button to grenade DC's engine!
Hey Finnshark, how come both our wee countries produce so many grand prix drivers :D :D
I kind of like the new rules too but they should be used as they are and not with 100's of exceptions. This time schumacher (and all the others) knew there was a good chance it would rain so he qualified on a rain setup. The others didn't (at least those in the front)
Because of the tire rule, that permits a limited tire choice, those that had a dry setup would have been forced to drive in the rain w/ that setup. Because of the rire rule, everyone had intermediate tires and driving them w/ a wet setup in that deluge is dangerous, let alone with a dry setup. That's why they all were allowed to make adjustments to their car. This is of course not fait since it takes away the edge from those that did qualify w/ a wet setup. If they want to do it like this, everyone can just run a full dry and not worry about rain because then they'll let you work on the car anyway. Something needs to be done about that (like allowing you to change setups, but then having to start from the pit lane, like some did to top off their tanks)
As for the supremacy of ferrari the last couple of years. The last year was the only year where they were truely a class of their own.
In all the other years the hampionship was decided in the lsat 2 races. All those times it was Michael Schumacher against someone else (Hill, Villeneuve, Hakkinen). In those days those teams had the ebst stuff (Williams, Williams, McLaren), it is not just the ferrari, it's schumacher + ferrari.
As for DC (be warned, I don't like him), he always drives like a wet towel and people around him make mistakes and he wins. Just look at the prev. race, at a certain point Raikkonen passes Webber (jaguar), next corner Schumacher passes, .. Coulthard can't pass untill webber's suspension breaks and he retires. Coulthard just has to be in 1st at McLaren. Raikkonen is leading the championship and had a good chance to lead the race before the pit stop under yellow and they pull in Coulhard (so Raikkonen has to make his stop under less favorable conditions because when he goes in the next round everyone that was in the pits would have catched up and be behind the pace car).
IMO Mr. chinface needs to move. He doesn't have what it takes, he lacks that edge as does Ralf Schumacher (what a panzy)
Without getting too heavy on individual drivers, there aint many drivers that get into the top formulae whether you are talking about F1, Cart or whatever who cant drive the sphericals off most of us. Lets not forget that these F1 cars are not easy, Niki Lauda was a superb driver in his day but was 25 seconds off the pace of his test driver when he drove the Jaguar F1 last year! And he aint that much of a geriatric.
Re: is formula 1 fun again or what (Graemeinvette)
you must not be talking about Alex Yoong  this year he's acting as the human chicane in the CART series. He kind of reminds me of that guy Meyer (who also drove a yellow champcar)
